Alexandra Health System

Water for health and water for life

Alexandra Health System, which currently manages the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH), actively ensures that KTPH incorporates water-efficient features to reduce water consumption. Features such as drip irrigation, using water from Yishun Pond to irrigate its gardens and roof garden, and using condensate water for air-con cooling towers are incorporated right from the start.

Mr Philip Chan Kok Leong

Water sustainability as a way of life

Mr Philip Chan is deeply passionate about sustainability and the need to conserve water. He seeks innovative solutions to improve the sustainability of the Asia Square building. For example, he devised improvements to the pivot valve design at the water tanks to reduce wastage from water overflows, and has proceeded to obtain the relevant clearances to implement the design for Asia Square Tower One.

Watermark Honorary Award - Siloso Beach Resort

Holistic water eco-system for resort's sustainability

Siloso Beach Resort(SBR) was given an honorary mention for exemplary efforts in both water-centric efforts and environmental sustainability, leading their water efficiency index well within the top 10% among hotels in Singapore.

Backed by the strong support and commitment from the hotel's senior management, the resort has flourished with eco-friendly features - from the preservation of trees to retain the natural water table (source of spring water), to the self-maintained rooftop garden which retains rainwater for irrigation, to channelling excess spring water to irrigate its lush green surroundings. SBR is also a strong proponent of education, enabling the use of its facilities to showcase and test-bed environmentally friendly technologies and practices.
