It’s good that in India an understanding has come that drinking of people with “distilled” water can be harmful to their health But stopping progress by the TDS indicator is not reasonable. First of all, it is necessary to have quality standards for drinking water indicating the content of specific, necessary, useful, soluble macro- and microelements, developed taking into account national, geographical, climatic and other conditions. With a lack of their quantities, companies should be required to conduct additional mineralization of drinking water to the requirements of the standards. The TDS indicator can be used as a recommended or indicative express indicator. It is strange that the Ministry of the Environment is dealing with this problem, and not the Ministry of Health or together.
