Severn Trent to provide denitrification filter technology to China wastewater treatment plant

Severn Trent Services, a leading global supplier of water and wastewater solutions, recently signed a contract with Tianjin Machinery & Electric Equipment Import & Export Co. Ltd., to provide itsTETRA® Denite®denitrificationfilter technology to the Tianjin JinnanWastewater TreatmentPlant Phase I Project. The Phase I Project has a daily capacity of 550,000 tons, making it the largest Denite DeepBed filter in China.
The denitrification installation will ensure the Tianjin Jinnan plant meets the Class 1A wastewater discharge requirements for totalnitrogen, recently established due to the implementation of Water Resource Management Regulations, which enforce high quality standards on wastewater treatment and discharge andrecycled water. The Severn Trent Services design uses 30 filters, each measuring 28.45 m x 3.56 m for a total filter area in excess of 3,000 m2. The start-up of this project is set to commence in October 2013.
