STW Resources Holding Corp announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, STW Water Process & Technologies, has expanded its role in the exclusive Agreement with Sunstone Water Group to commercialize their advanced wastewater effluent treatment technology
STW Resources Holding Corp, (OTCQB: STWS), an integrated provider of water management, including water reclamation and remediation, and oilfield services, announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, STW Water Process & Technologies, LLC (STW Water), has expanded its role in the exclusive Agreement with Sunstone Water Group to commercialize their patented proprietary highly advanced wastewater effluent treatment technology in the municipal marketplace. Sunstone also possesses the technologies to process high TDS water and the ability to manufacture reverse osmosis systems. Sunstone is moving its US manufacturing operation to STW’s headquarters in Midland, Texas and will be a co-partner in the new JV manufacturing company.
The Sunstone technology can be applied to processing municipal wastewater effluent to potable drinking water. STW has coined the phrase, “Reclaimed Municipal 'NEW' Water.” STW Resources will make this technology available for use in disaster relief and recovery. The system can be easily transported in shipping containers for fast and efficient deployment. Sunstone’s technology increases STW’s arsenal of water treatment technologies keeping with the company’s model of being a source for cleaning all types of water. The Sunstone technology is currently operating in many countries in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. STW Water will be taking the lead for marketing and deployment of the process in the US.
In the agreement, Sunstone and STW will combine their respective technologies to provide a reliable package of water purification services for municipalities. Treating wastewater for potable use is the process of removing undesirable chemicals, biological contaminants, suspended solids and gases from contaminated water and returning the water to potable status. The goal is to produce water fit for human consumption. STW Water, in conjunction with Sunstone Water Group, has introduced its highly advanced modular wastewater treatment system to the State of Texas that is focused and optimized for the processing of municipal wastewater for reuse.
Although there are several technologies on the market for this specialized type of water treatment, Sunstone has developed and patented a system that is far advanced technologically to any other systems available. Starting in September, STW and Sunstone will be performing a pilot project, subject to the oversight of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), with one of the cities in Texas to demonstrate and show the efficacy of the system and to also gain acceptance and approval for use commercially in municipalities. Although “toilet-to-tap” processing is not new, there has not been a very serious commitment from the industry to pursue it. It has been slow to achieve public acceptance, but, because of the drought situations and fresh water shortages in several parts of the United States and other areas of the world, it is and will become a necessity to everyone.
Sunstone’s Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) System is the most technologically advanced salt removal system on the market today. It combines several well-known technologies to perform one job: remove salt and contaminants from liquids economically and environmentally. It can remove up to and over 300,000 parts per million (ppm) Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and recover 95%+ fresh water. Ocean Reverse Osmosis typically can only recover up to 45-50% fresh water and is not effective if the TDS is over 40,000 ppm. STW will co-manufacture the systems in their Midland facility and take the lead for sales and distribution of this technology–the “Desalinator.”
Alan Murphy, President of STW Water, said, “I am excited to form this Joint Venture with such an outstanding Company as Sunstone. The founder, Elo Nielsen, is one of the brightest engineers that I have ever met. One of the many Sunstone technologies is capable of processing and cleaning this contaminated municipal wastewater to specs that are cleaner than the bottled water that is bought in stores every day. We are wasting our precious fresh water resources every minute of every day when we could be reusing it. We have the technology to clean and process nearly every type of contaminated water for reuse now. Everyone needs to realize that water is a commodity that has to be conserved in every way possible. Elo has designed and is designing other technologies for our group that are state-of-the-art compared to other technologies on the market for water purification.”
