Northumbrian Water Has Announced Details of Another Scheme Incorporating a Sustainable Urban Drainage Solution to Flooding
The water company is planning to use an innovative green solution to help to reduce the risk of flooding in Cramlington in a £370,000 project which will start later this month.
The utility will shortly start work on the creation of a detention basin - a landscaped area shaped in such a way that it will store excess surface water during intensive storms.
The basin is seen as a sustainable solution to tackle surface water flooding in the area. The scheme, which also involves the installation of 110 metres of upsized sewer pipe, is expected to take up to three months to complete.
