Suez's Performance-based Service Grows in India

Suez has won a six-year ADB-funded works and services contract in India that will see the company deliver clean water 24/7 and halve the 60% non-revenue water rate.
Around 20% of the O&M fees in the €30 million contract are performance-linked, under a similar model already employed by its growing Indian municipal services arm in Bangalore.
The company expects municipal services in India to contribute €20 million in revenue this year, while €50 million will come from design-build/design-build-operate contracts and around €30 million from industrial specialist Driplex, in which it recently bought a majority stake.
Suez will install 25,000 house connections and meters in Cossipore, alongside pipe replacement, GIS mapping and customer service support but will not bill customers as it does under its concession contract in Delhi. It will also deploy its helium gas leak detection technology, which is popular in India because of its suitability for networks with intermittent supply.
