Sustainable rural water in Peru
Published on by Water Network Research, Official research team of The Water Network in Government
Despite impressive economic growth over the last decade, socioeconomic inequalities still prevail in Peru and poverty remains high in the Sierra (60%). In Latin America, Peru shows the highest gap in access to drinking water between poorest and richest quintiles of population. 61% of the rural population in the Sierra lacks adequate sanitation and 39% does not have access to drinking water. Overall goal: Increase the percentage of population having access to quality water, by contributing to realize a large scaling up of the implementation of the SABA model in the rural municipalities of Peru.
