Switzerland Will Give Over 11 Million Euros to Improve Water Supply and Sanitation Infrastructure in Albania
Switzerland will give over 11 million euros to improve water supply and sanitation infrastructure in Albania. This agreement, which was signed today opens the way to improve the situation in seven municipalities.
Swiss Ambassador Christoph Graf, signed the agreement along with the Minister of Finance, Shkelqim Cani, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Haxhinasto, and directors of six water utilities.
"The new agreement contributes to an improved quality of life for 400 thousand citizens in Albania, in seven municipalities"said Swiss Ambassador, Graf.
He also added that the grant includes works in tourist and cultural destinations like Berat and Gjirokastra. During his speech, the Minister of Finance, Shiny Cani stressed the responsibility that government, municipalities and water utilities as beneficiaries.
"Friends and partners are supporting us. The signing of this agreement for financial assistance makes possible to meet the needs of people. Water is the first need for everyone and that is why it is a priority for us" Cani said.
The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Haxhinasto said: "This project is in line with government priorities for water and sewer system, particularly to address water losses in the sector. Through this agreement, in Berat, Kucova, Gjirokastra, Kamza, Lushnja, Delvina and Librazhdi will improve water supply and discharge."
