TEDx Talk: Botanical Gardens for Wastewater Treatment
Published on by Water Network Research, Official research team of The Water Network in Technology
Regular wastewater treatment plants take up a lot of space but Organica managed to reduce the space and eliminate the odors by making “water reclamation gardens” - botanical gardens which treat wastewater.
The wastewater is treated by a selected variety of microorganisms – bacteria which eat the organic matter from the water. The key to increasing the number of microorganism species is using the plants' roots and their extremely large surface area to provide the habitat for additional microorganisms (3000+ species).
