A sorely neglected area that is extremely important to water management is the minimization of losses. Water mains -- typically the oldest municipal infrastructures -- typically lose ~20% of their processed/transported water per AWWA. Currently leakage/seepage can occur for years/decades until water begins running down the middle of streets and/or sinkholes occur. Water audits won't achieve much until water metrology is significantly improved. Would you deposit your assets in a bank whose financial audits continue to display ~20% shortfall?
