Yes, human mobility creates disease transmission problems. Many  microorganisms can be monitored by metagenomic technologies that are available. We recently analyzed a US surface water source and identified over 1300 microbes of all sorts, mostly non pathogens; drinking  water treatment eliminated essentially all of them, so no panic.  So, the water can easily be made safe. Then what? So, what is their solution, other than---surprise--more research? Mass quarantines? Disinfection of the gut contents of travelers? Disinfecting air filters in all buildings? Mass immunizations? More antibiotics? Antiseptic showers?
