Portable Sludge Level Improves Regulatory Compliance
Markland's handheld sludge blanket level detector measures silt/sludge interface levels in clarifiers, tanks and lagoons, and helps provide valuable sludge/biosolids level profiles, the company says.
TheSludge Gun, which can be used wherever solids are separated from liquids including industrial processes and water and wastewater treatment plants, allows users to monitor sludge bed depth for regulatory compliance and prevention of carryover, and to eliminate unnecessary pumping/dredging.
The Sludge Gun uses high-intensity infrared light to locate both sludge blanket and overlying cloudy layer, in concentrations ranging from light flocs to thick blankets, the company says. For example, Model 10-LP detects clear liquid surfaces; high-power Model 10-HP excels at finding the level of sludge in murky lagoons.
