Toshiba Wins Contract for Myanmar's Hydropower Plant

The Toshiba Corporation has been awarded a contract by the Myanmar Electric Power Enterprise to supply four turbine and generator units for the 308-MW Upper Yeywa hydropower project
The MEPE contract was awarded to Toshiba's Chinese subsidiary Toshiba Hydro power (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. ( THPC ), with deliveries to be made to engineering, procurement and construction contractor Zhejiang Orient Engineering Co., Ltd., beginning in March 2016.
The Japan-based Toshiba Group said that the award is its second in Myanmar after the company previously supplied a hydraulic turbine for the 28.4-MW Sedawgyi plant in 1989.
Located near Taunmgchay on the Myitnge River, the plant is part ofMyanmar's plan to further cultivate its hydroelectric generating capacity.
