Having been responsible for managing UK public supplies for many years and applying best practice to my own dual system of a spring and private borehole supply, the importance of routinely checking for As in borehole supplies is not only focussed to Cornwall. Similarly undertaking a regular checks on other chemical and microbial parameters is vitally important. Private water supplies in the UK are far from pristine and there is still much work to do to understand and mitigate the actual and potential risks that arise in these systems.
