Utilities and energy organisations from across the UK have joined forces to form the Talent Source Network, an attraction and recruitment network aimed at tackling long- term skills gaps
The network, which is supported by Energy & Utility Skills and the National Skills Academy for Power, will build a quality qualified talent pool of 1,500 by September 2015 and 5,000 by September 2016. The EEI Partnership sees 67 employers working together to fill the training and skills void in the power, gas, water, renewables and waste management industries. The biggest Government scheme of its type, it is in turn supported by EU Skills and the Skills Academy.
The first two priorities of the network will be young people and service leavers looking for entry points into the sector and new training opportunities. It will also work to retain experienced talent within the industry.
Energy and Efficiency Industrial Partnership Chair and National Grid Chief Executive, Steve Holliday, said: "Over the next ten years we are looking for over 200,000 people to join the Energy and Utilities sector to meet the challenges of providing our future energy needs. The Partnership has proved that as organisations and industries, we are stronger together. It is joined up employer-led innovation that will help us build the economy we need. The Network will connect talented people to the exciting and rewarding well rewarded opportunities that are on offer."
