Use of oil-sensitive, super-absorbent polymers such as Imbiber Beads accomplishes at least three beneficial performance characteristics i.e. removal of organics from the waste stream, reduced footprint of the sorbent material and contaminant and excellent energy-from-waste benefit due to the extremely high BTU value of the polymer/contaminant mix. Imbiber Beads will absorb/imbibe many times their volume in organic contaminants versus adsorbents, which typically cannot sorb more than once their own volume.
