Patented Water Analysis Lab Developed by the LaMotte Co. of Chestertown Was Recognized as the Most Innovative Product During the Annual WINDO Conference in Virginia
According to a news release, LaMotte's WaterLink SPIN lab required more than seven years of development effort. The LaMotte team created a multi-chambered plastic disk and specialized photometer that allows users to test up to 10 factors in 60 seconds after injecting a water sample.
The SPIN lab distributes water to chambers inside a disk pre-dosed with dried reagents. The color reactions in each chamber are optically measured multiple times and the results are fed directly into software to create a report with dosage recommendations for treating the water in a pool or spa, the release states.
WINDO is an association of 26 independent wholesale distributors that serve pool and spa professionals in the U.S. and Canada. The award for innovation is not given annually but presented when the association feels a unique product has been introduced that clearly helps industry members.
