Increasing Level of Water Pollution and Various Health Programs Conducted by NGOs and Water Purifier Companies Pushing Water Purifier Sales Throughout China
In 2012, World Health Organization (WHO) estimates suggested that more than 1 billion people worldwide did not have access to clean and safe drinking water. This offers a huge opportunity to water purifier manufacturers as a large number of people are reeling under water crises in most of the countries across the globe.
In developed countries of Europe and North America, water purifiers are more predominant within households as well as commercial settings as most of them have installed advanced RO and UV based water purifications units. However, the situation is critical in developing and underdeveloped nations in Asia and Latin America, where even water supply infrastructure is not properly in place.
In APAC region, China has emerged as a burgeoning market for water purifiers due to rising industrialization and urbanization throughout the country. Though China has the largest consumer base across the globe, the penetration rate of water purifiers is less than 4%. However, with rising adoption of water purifiers in the country, the penetration rate is anticipated to grow, particularly in urban regions like south central and eastern provinces.
Besides NGOs, many water purifier manufacturing companies are also conducting awareness programs in rural as well as urban areas to educate consumers about the importance of potable water and the health risks posed by drinking contaminated water. This strategy is turning out to be an important marketing tool for companies to boost their water purifier sales in China.
