Water Sector Launches Info Platform for Customers

The new strategic dashboard – discoverwater.co.uk – will be predominantly for use by household customers, and is the first of its kind in Europe. It will provide information and statistics about each of the English and Welsh water companies, and will eventually allow customers to compare the performance of each.

Phase two will follow in December, allowing the site to provide statistics for each individual company in a league-table format.

Information currently shown includes overall performance, environmental performance, customer satisfaction scores and price comparison.

It also tells customers general information about the water cycle, including how it gets from source to tap.

It is a collaborative project, paid for by water companies. Development of the dashboard was led by a steering group made up of key stakeholders such as Water UK, Ofwat, the Environment Agency, the Consumer Council for Water, and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

“The dashboard is customer focused and customer-led and the design and content has been created according to customer research we carried out for this project,” Water UK head of corporate affairs, Neil Dhot, told  Utility Week . “The overall aim of the dashboard is to increase trust and confidence by providing a strategic overview of key aspects of the sector.”
