Welsh Water launches new technology at wastewater plant

Welsh Water has announced that new technology is to be used on a wastewater plant in order to deliver increased gas production.

The water firm has said that all existing Seepex progressive cavity pumps will be upgraded to smart stator technology at the WWT plant in South Wales, reports The Engineer.

This, it stated, will help produce better gas production for the plant's generators, after it revealed that there was a reduced gas yield on the site.

Seepex's pump was designed to include features of the smart stator and will now provide a constant flow of sewage sludge.

Therefore, it will be able to process the wastewater treatment more effectively and produce a higher volume of gas.

Last month, the firm completed a project worth £13 million to improve the wastewater process at its Cwellyn site.

It upgraded its existing equipment in an attempt to produce more efficient supply and improve the water quality for the 76,000 customers in the North Wales area.
