With Big Data, IBM Helps Create A Sustainable Food Supply

In Georgia, where agriculture has a $72 billion economic impact, farmers are turning to ground-breaking technology from IBM to help meet ever-increasing food production demands and leading the way in conservation measures, improving agricultural efficiency by up to 20 percent.
The Flint River Partnership, which includes the Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District, USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service and The Nature Conservancy, together with the University of Georgia and IBM are assisting farmers in Georgia's Lower Flint River Basin, the epicenter of agriculture in Georgia, helping them make more informed irrigation scheduling decisions in order to improve crop yield, conserve water and mitigate the impact of future droughts.
