The Energy Footprint of Water

Published on by in Academic

I'm looking for (global and country wise) data on the energy needed to provide water to the consumer. Data could be in terms of kWh per m³ of water or any other similar unit.

Does anyone know of a source of information about this topic?

Thanks

  1. There are various "tap water production" data sets for different treatment technologies and geographical boundaries in ecoinvent (www.ecoinvent.ch) including their cumulative energy demand - CED ("grey energy" or energy footprint from cradle-to-tap).

    1. Some ecoinvent datasets are free and can be accessed using a Guest account.

    2. Thanks. But I didn't want to buy a software but looking for some (scientific) papers (reviews).
