Dear Dr. Hecht,    In support to your first concept for sustainability "Advance and apply science, technology, and innovation" I would like to add:     Our civilization peoples are facing awful misery from lack of jobs (income), and expensive needs for life and existence.     This defect we are facing is mainly due to our retarded technologies which are imposing expensive needs, while there is no corresponding income. Retarded technologies are practically in all of our activities. Limiting the discussion to the following 2 points only:           1- Our construction procedures are very expensive, leading to expensive residences. Construction of lumber and gypsum sheets is totally irrelevant, not only very expensive, but also lumber has nothing to do with construction and structurally irrelevant. Construction with heavy reinforced concrete is also very expensive for no reason.            Recent advances generating lightweight hollow core fiber/steel reinforced concrete are still not in use.           2- Our cars/vehicles refer to a less than 30 % efficient engine, consuming at least 50 % extra fuel. We have already a model of more efficient engine in our dual cycle electric power stations (45 % efficient), however our intelligent car industry is preferring to progress towards self-driving cars???? No effort is spent to increase the efficiency of our internal combustion engines.        Sustainability will be achieved by relieving the burden on our communities.

Dear Dr. Hecht,

In support to your first concept for sustainability "Advance and apply science, technology, and innovation" I would like to add:

Our civilization peoples are facing awful misery from lack of jobs (income), and expensive needs for life and existence.

This defect we are facing is mainly due to our retarded technologies which are imposing expensive needs, while there is no corresponding income. Retarded technologies are practically in all of our activities. Limiting the discussion to the following 2 points only:

1- Our construction procedures are very expensive, leading to expensive residences. Construction of lumber and gypsum sheets is totally irrelevant, not only very expensive, but also lumber has nothing to do with construction and structurally irrelevant. Construction with heavy reinforced concrete is also very expensive for no reason.

2- Our cars/vehicles refer to a less than 30 % efficient engine, consuming at least 50 % extra fuel. We have already a model of more efficient engine in our dual cycle electric power stations (45 % efficient), however our intelligent car industry is preferring to progress towards self-driving cars????
