This position is responsible for providing project support for large consulting projects and managing tasks or small size projects. The Project Engineer will be responsible for successful delivery of small to medium sized projects personally or works with more senior project management professionals on larger projects, and is supported by technical task leaders as required to bring the necessary skills to the project.
Specific duties include working with and potentially leading small teams, scheduling, budget management, quality control, safety, and coordination of subcontractors and internal technical and support staff. The Project Engineer will also be called on very large projects as required to support senior managers in designated areas of work and will be capable of closely supporting if not leading sales efforts for medium size projects
- Coordination of consulting and design projects from the Melbourne office for local clients on water and wastewater applications
- Some Client management aspects to establish and maintain good working relationships with client project managers and technical specialists
- Develop and schedule the work plan for all engineering/design activities
- Coordinate all technical documentation, reporting and designs produced by engineers for senior review
- Development and staffing of the design team including management of resource levels to meet the needs of the project
- Development, monitoring and implementation of the engineering system including cross-discipline coordination
- Coordinate and reporting of regular engineering/design meetings, interdisciplinary co-ordination and other design workshops and presentations
The minimum qualifications for this position are:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable discipline (civil, mechanical, chemical or environmental) or equivalent experience
5-10 years-experience with 3+ years in the water or wastewater industry is essential
While this is an office based position, posting to client or site offices may be required on a project by project basis
