The projection thatthe World population willrise to 9 billion people by 2050 if current trends continue is generally agreed on. But, one of the issues often really debated is the amount of food needed to be produced to meet the needs of this number of people, possible states of world food security then and more importantly how meeting this increased food demand will affect the natural environment and landscapes.
