Links Between IWRM and WASH

Published on by in Technology

IWRM and WASH services have several common points.

For example, in places where domestic and industrial waste is not  properly collected and treated, this waste eventually gets in contact with communal surface water. Once this happens, water quality in the area quickly deteriorates.

When there  is no balance in the allocation of water to different usage sectors (agriculture, industry, WASH), chances of water unsustainability increase.

Actually, I am able to understand how IWRM is relevant to sustainable WASH. The issue that makes me confused is how to assess links between IWRM and WASH in catchment? Which tools and methods have been applied by previous studies to assess it? Any help will be great, thank you!

We want to get a firm grasp of a current state of links between IWRM and WASH in our catchment to lobby for better water governance.

Best regards
