Report predicts global membrane wastewater treatment market to reach $3 billion in 2021

Once confined to niche production and used marginally, membrane technologies are now among the most preferred wastewater treatment solutions for municipal and industrial uses, according to a new report published byReportlinker.
The market is rapidly expanding, driven by lower operation and production costs and by increased competition on the market. Globally, demand for membrane wastewater treatment technologies is growing as more public sector projects require their use and tighter water resources control regulations call for water reuse.

The amount of new desalination capacity expected to come on line during 2013 is 50% more than last year’s total, according to new data from the International Desalination Association (USA) and GWI DesalData. Desalination plants with a total capacity of 6 million cubic meters per day (m3/d) are expected to come on line during 2013, compared with 4 million m3/d in 2012.
