Students at the Desai lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison are investigating how changes in the length of lake ice seasons influence the cycling of carbon dioxide and methane. Here a LGR Ultraportable Greenhouse Gas Analyzer (UGGA), using only battery power, is applied to record chamber flux measurements of CO2 and CH4 flux over the frozen Lake Mendota in Madison, Wisconsin. A small hole is augured over the lake and the chamber is quickly placed on top to capture the emissions of greenhouse gases out of the lake. -
