Dear Patron,

Greetings from Water Today!

I am working on the August 2016 issue and would like to invite you to contribute technical articles, case studies, research papers on “ Need for ZLD Solutions and facilitate a comprehensive perspective on the same. Please find below the theme note and do let us know if you could send us your article.

Theme Note - Need for ZLD Solutions - August 2016 issue.

The scarcity of water, environmental impacts of industrial wastewater discharge and stricter regulatory norms have made it imperative to espouse recycling and reuse methods. A key tool against water scarcity is the ZLD concept. This concept is based on the use of techniques and processes that make it possible to reuse all polluted effluents. A well-designed ZLD system should minimize the volume of wastewater that requires further treatment, process wastewater in an economically feasible manner, while also producing a clean stream suitable for reuse elsewhere in the facility.

A ZLD system involves a range of advanced wastewater treatment technologies to recycle, recovery and reuse of the treated wastewater and thereby ensure there is no discharge of wastewater to the environment. However, the main aim is to purify the water up to the level that can be reused for every application. The implementation of a ZLD system based on the zero waste concepts involves the treatment of all liquid waste to such an extent that its quality allows it to be reintroduced into the process, hence minimizing final rejection.

Today most of the ZLD facilities are primarily industrial and power plant applications. Typical waste streams that produce large volumes of wastewater include cooling tower blowdown, gas scrubber blowdown, ion-exchange regeneration effluent and rinses, plant wash down and rain water runoff, and process wastes.

Our August 2016 issue will be focusing on the Need for ZLD Solutions and the prevalent technologies used for ZLD-systems and different types of components in a ZLD-system along with its revolutionary treatment system for the total elimination of wastewater effluent into the waterways.

We would like to invite you to share your experiences in the form of articles, technical papers and case studies with our readers. Please inform us of your intent to contribute at the earliest, so that we can evaluate the articles for the publication.
