2nd Stakeholder Conference on Plastic and Micro Plastic Pollution

Plastic and micro plastic is receiving increasing political, societal and scientific concern. A lot has been achieved in the recent years but still, there are several challenges ahead. Among other achievements, the EU has issued a Plastics Strategy and a single use plastics legislation is currently under negotiation.

 

 

Jointly organized by the Austrian Presidency, IUCN and the Network of European Environment Agencies, the Plastic and micro plastic is receiving increasing political, societal and scientific concern. A lot has been achieved in the recent years but still, there are several challenges ahead. Among other achievements, the EU has issued a Plastics Strategy and a single use plastics legislation is currently under negotiation.

Jointly organized by the Austrian Presidency, IUCN and the Network of European Environment Agencies, the 2nd Stakeholder Conference on Plastic and Micro Plastic Pollution aims at identifying the issues that are most urgently to be addressed and to define the concrete next steps for the elimination of plastics and microplastics in the environment. The conference provides an update to the first Stakeholder Conference held in 2015 and directs to stakeholders from public administration, industry, NGOs and academia.

The conference will take place on 20 November 2018 and will be kindly hosted by the Permanent Representation of Estonia to the EU.
