Utilis has successfully provided satellite-based leak detection services to utilities in the United States for the past five years. Due to the scale of the satellite overpass, the data can be provided quickly and easily to large and small utilities alike. Building on this success, Utilis has begun providing additional products to the water industry, with MasterPlan being the latest. It uses multiple satellite images over the same area to score each pipe segment in the system with a pipe deficiency score. This data can be easily imported into a risk management model and used for asset management and pipeline replacement activities. This presentation will discuss how small utilities in New Mexico and Virginia have used both satellite leak detection, and now the MasterPlan pipe deficiency assessment, for their management activities.
