Stormwater 2014

Welcome to STORMWATER 2014 , the 3rd National Conference on Urban Water Management convened by the Australian Stormwater Industry Association and the first held under our unified banner Stormwater Australia . The Conference will be held at the Hilton Adelaide Hotel from the 13th - 17th October, 2014.

This year, we have chosen the theme ‘New Ways of Thinking' to reflect a growing trend across the industry that recognises the increasingly important role that stormwater management plays in cities that need to be adapt to the combined challenges of population pressures, climate change , environmental concerns and water resource management .

STORMWATER 2014 will be held in the wonderful city of Adelaide, capital of South Australia, and Australia's festival state. Renowned as the city of churches, on the doorstep of some of Australia's greatest wine districts and gateway to the Australian outback, we are delighted to be working with the South Australian Committee to create a Conference experience that will be fresh, enjoyable and informative.

With the support of industry, we will be developing a Conference program that will allow all industry participants to gain new knowledge, build stronger practitioner networks and enjoy the best that Adelaide has to offer.

As with previous Conferences, we aim to ensure the Conference program will support new ideas, connections and allow delegates to have fun along the way.

Starting with our traditional series of Pre Conference Workshops, there is the opportunity to upskill in specific areas of interest as we embed existing practices, introduce new knowledge and provide a range of learning experiences led by some of the very best our industry has to offer.

The three day Conference Program will feature papers covering a broad range of topics including Asset Management, Community Engagement, Ecology of Urban Streams, Education, Integrated Planning and Reporting, Planning and Design, Policy and Regulation, Research, Stormwater Harvesting and Reuse, Technology and Innovation, Total Water Cycle Management and Water Sensitive Urban Design. Our robust program will provide an opportunity to listen, learn, compare ideas and connect with industry peers.

The Conference Social Program will include the traditional Welcome Reception, a taste of the best hospitality that South Australia has to offer, ‘fresh' ideas to invigorate the mind and body, culminating with the presentation of the 2014 Stormwater Australia National Awards for Excellence at the Conference Dinner and the traditional bestowing of the Presidential ‘Stormie Awards' that are second to none.

In what will be a pivotal year for Stormwater Australia, as we work to deliver a broad agenda nationally, I look forward to seeing you in October and swapping stories and ideas about where our industry can go. I thank you in advance for your collective participation, presentations and ideas at Stormwater 2014-New Ways of Thinking .
