ENGR. ABDUL HAKEEM KHAN is a water resource engineer with 29 years of experience in planning, project preparation, implementation and management, capacity and institutional development for rural and irrigation infrastructure development projects. He has led and participated in a number of multinational and multi-disciplinary projects where he introduced and implemented innovative ideas like flexible operational schedules in Chashma Right Bank Canal and Pehur High Level Canal , and the formation of farmer organization (FO) and water user organization (WUA) at the upper tertiary levels of irrigation systems. He introduced and demonstrated on-farm water conservation technologies like laser land levelling, watercourse lining and system of rice intensification for improving productivity and increasing rural income in Afghanistan working directly with water users. He consistently and successfully worked at all levels of irrigation systems in Pakistan, Nepal, Banladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan for World Bank, International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Colorado State University, Fort Collins (CSU), Asian Development Bank, MM Pakistan (MMP) and with Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP). Mr. Khan possesses strong interpersonal skill with proven record of developing strong links with stakeholders including government departments and the community.
