About

Our Mission:

Bali Water Protection or BWP, is our call Bali’s spiritual, political, economical and civil leadership as well as to all visitors and residents to take responsibility in addressing the province’s rapidly dismissing freshwater supply. We are here to impulse rapid aquifer replenishment through a proven and simple technology call it rainwater-fed recharge wells and ensure Bali’s present and future water sovereignty.

Who we are:

IDEP Selaras  Alam Foundation – with the assistance and technical support of University Politeknik Negeri Bali (PNB) has been researching for appropriate ways to respond to this water crisis while recharging the aquifers and needs your support for the following sub-programs:

Adopt a Wells : map 13 identified Critical Intervention Areas (CIA) in Bali province’s main land and sister islands, construct 136 rainwater-fed recharge wells, publish a ‘how to’ manual and train 25 constructors.

Adopt River : deliver and education program to 132 schools with 9-12 years old students living along 11 rivers (with largest watersheds) to foster river and ocean stewardships; providing each school’s library with bi-lingual comic books and teacher aid banners on the cycle.

Adopt Water: Water awareness raising media campaign, monthly press article, public billboard exposure in high traffic areas and regional television talk’s show on water during a 12 month campaign

Milestone of BWP Program

With your help this program can avert the major crisis in Bali.

Program planning begins mid of 2012, BWP program green light from government in 2013, Bali field assessments to identified critical focus areas, BWP endorsed by Bali Governor and partnership established with Politeknik Negeri Bali (PNB) April 2015, BWP Pioneer program launches in 2016, start of building 136 recharge wells in critical areas in 2018, aim to launch schools program in 132 schools and widespread awareness program,

How does the BWP work?

  1. Technical planning, testing and engagement; field testing of location specific well design for island-wide strategic recharge strategy. Prepare training tools and campaign materials
  2. Adopt  Wells; Train construction teams in recharge well methodology and construct 136 recharge wells in priority locations
  3. Adopt River: Launch public educational program in 132 schools and establish network of river steward schools
  4. Adopt Water; launch mass media campaign in Bali and adjacent island, establish local culture of water awareness
