Bruce Darling, Owner at Groundwater & Geochemical Consulting, LLC

About

Bruce Darling has 35 years of experience as a geologist, hydrogeologist, and geochemist in the energy and environmental industries.  He specializes in the integration of inorganic geochemistry, isotope geochemistry, and physical hydrogeology to address matters related to the delineation of flow systems, groundwater-surface water interaction, age-dating of groundwater, and the origin, transport and fate of naturally occurring contaminants and contaminants traceable to industrial and agricultural sources.  He has dealt extensively with matters related to the mobilization and fate of arsenic, mercury, uranium, and radium in groundwater systems, and he has resolved many problems related to the origin and differentiation of brines and the mixing of brine with fresh-water and brackish-water resources.  He is proficient in applications of PHREEQC, Geochemist’s Workbench, and MINEQL to model a wide range of geochemical reactions.

His experience in water planning and economics is extensive.  He was a principal author, under Senate Bill 1 guidelines, of the first regional water plan developed for the Far West Texas Regional Water Planning Group (Region E), and he directed the development of a statewide groundwater management plan for the Louisiana Groundwater Conservation Commission.  He has also directed field programs in Kenya for nonprofit organizations committed to the development of groundwater resources in eastern Africa.
