Dr. Carlos Campos is a Water Quality Scientist in the Aquatic Health and Hygiene Division at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science. His research is focused on the intersection between environmental microbiology and human health with specific interest on the fate and behaviour of enteric pathogens in the marine environment; factors affecting the microbial quality of shellfish; effectiveness of wastewater treatments in reducing viruses; sanitary surveys of shellfish production areas; implementation of marine monitoring programmes and impacts of stormwater discharges in the marine environment. Carlos has been actively involved in delivering science and evidence to UK Government and international organisations. He received his Degree in Biology from the University of the Azores (Portugal) and his Ph.D. from Aberystwyth University (Wales).
