About

Professor Cleveland M. Jones was born in Bahia, Brazil, and graduated in Physics and Economics from Cornell University (USA). He obtained his post-graduate degree in Oil and Gas Engineering, as well as his Masters (Basin Analysis) and Doctoral (MEOR - Microbial Enhanced Oil Recovery) degrees in Geology from the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ).

 

Prof. Jones has been an international consultant to the oil industry, is currently a researcher at INOG – Instituto Nacional de Óleo e Gás, of Brazil’s CNPq, and Member of the Geosciences Advisory Board of NXT Energy Solutions, Inc., of Canada. He publishes extensively on strategic concerns and technological developments in the energy industry.

 

He was founder and director of several environmental and biotech firms, developed major projects for environmental restoration of sensitive areas, and consulted on WWT and general sanitation issues. Achievements include legislative and industry white papers and proposals for biological products used in WWT and other applications. Has addresses sanitation issues in Brazil on a national level.

 

Prof. Jones coordinated post-graduate courses and held teaching assignments at several educational institutions, and coordinated an extensive Knowledge Management project focused on environmental and strategic aspects of the oil industry.

 

He is Vice-President of Instituto Nova Economia do Brasil – INEB, an institute dedicated to promoting “new economy” businesses and sustainability, including socio-environmental initiatives.

 

Prof. Jones is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
