David Kimani, Executive Secretary, Mukuru Water & Sanitation Project
About
Hi Water Network Friends,
I have been working in Mukuru Water & Sanitation Project,Nairobi,Kenya as Executive Secretary from June 2006 up to date. Our Projects are independently run and managed by registered community based organizations in Mukuru slums. There are eight operational Mukuru WASH Projects although going through critical operational challenges that are highlighted in the attached Mukuru Slums Water and Sanitation Project (M.S.W.S.P) Report.
I was instrumental in the implementation of the Mukuru WASH Project.I am appealing to well-wishers to kindly review the Report attached and to partner with us to provide solutions. One of the solution would be to treat black water from a nearby running river (Ngong River) to enable us use it's water to flush our toilets and also where possible to re-use the water for other essential needs, for instance drinking, laundry and cleaning.
The treatment of the Ngong River black water would go a long way to ensure sustainability of our Mukuru WASH Project. This is because sometimes the water supply from Nairobi Water Company is irregular coupled with other operational challenges like illegal tapping of our water supply by illegal water vendors, the water cartels and wear and tear of water supply infrastructures.
Thank you.
