Denis domagala, Senior water engineer
About
Denis Domagala holds a Master hydraulics and environment Degree and has more than 20 years of extensive experience on water utility projects including urban water supply projects. He has experience of monitoring/ guiding various agencies involved in carrying out hydraulics projects. He is currently working in Lao PDR, especially in Vientiane Capital and several provinces.
His educational background covers hydraulics, environment, information systems & project management. For several years he is regularly Project Manager on large international assignments. He is fully accustomed to the rules, guidelines and procedures applied by international financing institutions such as WB, EU, AFD, ADB His duties include administrative, contractual and financial, progress monitoring, team supervision, assistance to clients and beneficiaries, management of relations with project partners and stakeholders.
He has also a comprehensive knowledge and experience of water supply, sanitation, waste water management, development issues in European and developing countries on several continents. since 2012 he lives and works in Lao country on some water supply and sewerage projects and is hence accustomed to the country’s local specificities. His skills also cover among others:
- design overall schemes, such as sewer and water supply improvement schemes, and associated structures, such as pumping stations, pipework and earthworks (the scale of the design may range from an initial outline to a full, detailed design)
- prepare tender documents as a basis for construction
- review technical submissions
- liaise with various bodies and individuals, including local authorities, government agencies, clients, contractors, residents, suppliers, technical experts and other consultants
- support other project managers and directors within the business and across the wider market
- keep up to date with environmental matters, and be aware of policy and developments in Asian countries
- present technical data or project results to both technical and non-technical clients and donors
- monitor the progress of projects from beginning to end - from design through to construction and handover - supervise many components of small scale and large projects as deputy team leader
- control budgets at project level
- administer contracts and ensure that work is completed to deadline
- supervise the operation and maintenance of water and sewerage infrastructure
- use software simulations to analyse and design and Geographical Information System for data management
- manage staff, including other engineers, technicians and site workers
- Large international projects management
- Diagnostic, master plan, feasibility study and preparation of investment programs for improvement of urban utilities and infrastructure
