Doug Bright, Practice Lead - Environmental Risk Assessment at Hemmera

About

My graduate training is in marine benthic ecology and ecotoxicology, while my post-doctoral research focused on arsenic aquatic geochemistry and subsequently arctic contaminated sites and long-range transport of especially persistent organic pollutants. Since the early 1990s, my studies have varied across aquatic ecosystem types (lentic, lotic, wetland, estuarine, marine), and issues related to humans and the natural or built environment (source water protection, sanitary wastewater and industrial effluent discharges and water quality, biosolids land application, stormwater, contaminant fate and effects; mining, upstream oil & gas, brownfields, etc.). I am passionate about university - consulting - industry research collaborations and am an adjunct at Royal Roads University. My current focus is on environmental DNA and environmental omics approaches for improved decision making and advancing cumulative effects monitoring and management at large watershed and landscape scales
