About

Dr. Yemane G. Asfaha is an Assistant Professor of Water Science and Technology in the Department of Water Resources Engineering, School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Adama University of Science and Technology, Ethiopia. Dr. Yemane completed his Ph.D. with an excellent grade in Water Science and Technology from an internationally accredited Africa Center of Excellence for Water Management program, Addis Ababa University, in July 2022. In addition, he received his Master of Science Degree in Water Resources Engineering from Arba Minch Institute of Water Technology, Arba Minch University, in 2012 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil/Agricultural/Water Engineering from Hawassa University in 2008. Dr. Yemane is an experienced researcher and lecturer with more than fifteen years of experience in various academic positions, community service, and consultancy services and projects. His research focus areas and interests are diversified but focused on industrial wastewater treatment, electrochemical treatment, environmental chemistry, water quality, material characterization,  adsorption, catalytic surface modification, advanced oxidation process, water quality monitoring and modeling, water and wastewater treatment technologies,  desalination, Biological wastewater treatment, and renewable energy. Apart from conducting research, developing curricula, and supervising undergraduate and graduate students, Dr. Yemane has taught various courses in the Department of Water Supply and Environmental Engineering Program and the Department of Civil Engineering.

Dr. Yemane has excellent knowledge and skill in laboratory setup and analysis, mainly different standard solutions preparations, physicochemical and material characterization, optimization processes, kinetic studies, catalytic surface modification, TOC analysis, data manipulation and reporting using advanced instrumentations like FTIR, HPLC, NMR, GC-MS, and UV-Vis, and feasibility studies through a mechanistic approach using cost analysis in comparison to other technologies.

Furthermore, his research title (Solar-Powered Electrocoagulation and Electrooxidation System for Textile Wastewater) was awarded the best research paper of the 2022 Water Conference organized by the Florida International University and featured on national television called Fana Television ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv1n3XiBVH0 ). Dr. Yemane has published over seven research articles and one book chapter in peer-reviewed high-impact factor journals. Dr. Yemane has presented various research works at regional and international conferences.

Dr. Yemane is also participating and got a recognition certificate as an article reviewer in various journals such as Chemosphere, Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry, Water Process Engineering, Water Science and Technology, and so on.
