Elias Baptista

About

Elias Baptista has been the General Secretary of the Mozambican Commission on Dams (MozCOD) since 2010, and is a Board Member of ICOLD’s Young Engineers’ Forum Steering Committee. He is a structural and geotechnical engineer working at MC-Arquitectos , where he is currently Head of the Inspection and Construction Management Department, and responsible for the design of several infrastructures projects around the country. He graduated as a Civil Engineer in 2008 from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane , Mozambique, and received his Master’s degree in Geotechnical and Seismic Engineering in 2013 from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC - Barcelona Tech), Spain, where he worked on advanced tests for his degree thesis work. His research focused on the hydro-mechanical behaviour of compacted clayey silt, with an important application on dams and relevant earthworks. He has served as structural engineer and Head of the Dam Department at Técnica Engenheiros Consultores .
