About

A highly experienced and motivated freshwater ecologist and water resources professional, qualified to Ph.D. level with over 25 years’ experience in water resources assessment and management, IWRM, water-energy-food Nexus, ecological impact assessment, environmental flow assessment, aquatic ecosystem health and protected site planning and management. Also highly skilled, and with extensive experience, in project and programme management, provision of technical advice and support to clients and colleagues, development and implementation of plans, detailed reporting, organisation and facilitation of workshops, meetings and consultative processes (especially those involving stakeholders), provision of advice on the development and implementation of policy, liaison with donors, governments and fund-raisers as well as personnel and financial management.

Considerable experience of water and environmental management in Africa having worked for the Department of Water Affairs for three years in Namibia; on the Okavango Delta Management Plan in Botswana for two years; on development of a national water resources strategy in Malawi for 18 months and currently as Team Leader for a 4 year catchment management programme in Malawi. I have also managed EU and USAID funded projects; the former to support development of the Orange-Senqu River Commission (ORASECOM) for WS Atkins International Ltd and the latter to inculcate the Ecosystem Approach into WRM for IUCN. Many short term inputs to projects in South Africa, Liberia and Guinea.

Currently Team Leader for 2 Catchment Management projects as part of the Shire River Basin Management Plan project in Malawi; also Director for Mott MacDonald Blantyre ltd
