About

Firstly I would like to tell you something about my special life that I have obtained B.Sc in mechanical engineering and then joint the National Electricity Corporation to work at Roseires Hydropower Plant. I have been working in operation of the power plant for 9 years. During this period I see the difficulties that the operation and maintenance staff suffering from, such as sedimentation of reservoir that let me think about this problem and how to help the company to face this problem.
After I finished M.Sc in Business Administration I met some friends from irrigation administration who advice me to start the Ph.D in field of sedimentation on UNESCO CHAIR IN WATER RESOURCES. Last month I finished my research in this field and I think that I could introduce good advice in how to manage sedimentation on Roseires reservoir and other dams as well. But I don’t know how the decisions taker will say about the results of the study. I hope that they will embrace it and put it in place of actions.
I think hydropower increases rapidly- in the near future- in Sudan due to high potential on the river Nile and its tributaries. So, I think, it is better to look for the new technology in this industry to develop the expected projects of hydropower in Sudan. Sudan also needs to make more cooperation through shared hydro-electric projects, specially with Ethiopia so as to share benefits from Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and develop the electrical inter change towards encouraging building: the one African national electric grid.
Finally, I wish that the governments of East African Countries could work together in building capacity in the field of water resources engineering in order to share benefits from these projects in Nile basin through integrated water resources management which could results in sustainable development of our local community.
In future- if I take a leading position in the Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity- I will do the best to develop this sector to develop our country.
