About
Henry Northover is an independent consultant specialising in WASH governance and strategy in low and lower-middle income countries. He has worked on international development policy issues for 25 years. His previous roles included Global Policy Director at the INGO WaterAid and, before that, Senior Policy Analyst in CAFOD. He specialises in the political economy of reform, development finance and climate change. Previously he helped create some of the first economic advocacy programs in Central and Southern Africa and acted as an advisor to the South African Treasury on NEPAD’s capital flows policy. His current focus is on WASH sector governance and system-strengthening specialising in the water security, sanitation and hygiene sectors. He also specialises in climate change adaptation and system-strengthening strategies. Among his published works are articles on the transformation of East Asia's approach to sanitation and hygiene, development finance, water security governance and the political economy of systems change. He was a member of the steering group that created the international Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) partnership. He has worked in the UK Parliament as policy advisor to the UK Labour Party’s front bench foreign affairs and development teams.For 14 years Henry led a team of ten Senior Policy Analysts and Researchers and was a member of WaterAid's leadership team and its Global Strategy Working Group. . He has been a guest lecturer at George Washington University, University of London (R. Holloway College) and the London School Of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
