Jan Willem Rosenboom

Jan Willem Rosenboom is a Senior Program Officer in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Strategy for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, based in Seattle. He is a Public Health Engineer by training. Jan Willem co-manages the “Measurement, Evaluation and Dissemination, for Scale” initiative under the WSH strategy, which covers a substantial grant portfolio including investments in market research and market making, policy development, business model development and knowledge management. He has over thirty years of experience in international development, primarily in the field of water supply and sanitation. Prior to joining the foundation in December of 2010, Jan Willem managed the World Bank Water and Sanitation Program in Cambodia, worked on arsenic mitigation with UNICEF in Bangladesh and ran a consulting practice in Cambodia. Early on in his career Jan Willem worked in Kenya and Sierra Leone as a resident engineer for WaterAid UK. He has particular interests in knowledge management and the learning agenda for the WaSH sector, as well as sustainability, sanitation marketing and drinking water safety. He has published several papers on those subjects.
