Summary

Jane Mbevi is a water resources management and natural resources specialist with over 10 years of experience designing and implementing programmes that strengthen water governance, basin resilience and institutional performance across Kenya. She has led multi-partner initiatives on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), watershed restoration, freshwater ecosystem management, Water Resources Users Association (WRUA) strengthening and water integrity, working with government institutions, county governments, development partners, civil society and local communities.

Throughout her career, Jane has championed systems-based approaches that connect policy and governance, institutional strengthening, participatory catchment management and sustainable financing to improve water security and climate resilience. She has provided technical leadership for programmes supported by USAID, the Water Integrity Network (WIN), GIZ, WWF, the Kenya Water Partnership (KWP), the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and other partners, contributing to the implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management across multiple river basins in Kenya.

Jane's experience spans the full programme cycle, from programme design and technical implementation to partnership development, resource mobilisation, monitoring, learning and adaptive management. She has facilitated multi-stakeholder dialogue, strengthened governance institutions, supported policy implementation and promoted locally led approaches that place communities at the centre of sustainable water resources management.

As Programme Manager at the Centre for Social Planning and Administrative Development (CESPAD), Jane leads the organisation's Water and Natural Resources Programme, providing strategic oversight of integrated initiatives on water security, basin resilience, climate resilience and freshwater ecosystem management.
