Jane Schukoske, Consultant at Sehgal Foundation
About
Currently, I am a consultant for Sehgal Foundation and am based in the USA. From 2011-2016, I was CEO of S M Sehgal Foundation in India. SMSF collaborates on rural, community-led development on water, agriculture, and good governance. Water interventions include rainwater harvesting in semi-arid areas, low-cost filtration (biosand filter) and storage (tanks and freshwater recharge wells), solar pumps for farming, and check dams and other structures to counter erosion. SMSF works in tandem with village committees on awareness and behavior change regarding health, hygiene, sanitation, nutrition, and school facilities. SMSF guides a community radio station in Nuh district, Haryana, and networks with other stations. SMSF also adapts technologies for rural communities where it works and conducts research. For details, visit www.smsfoundation.org.
Earlier, I practiced and taught law, clinically through an environmental justice project and community development clinic at University of Baltimore School of Law, and headed the Fulbright Commission in India.
