About

Johnny Guo brings more than 20 years of extensive experience in the design, research, and studies of water and wastewater treatment systems, and in the development of sustainable water management, reuse and recycle strategies for both industrial and municipal applications. His career has been focusing on the treatment of complex industrial waste effluents and process waters from a variety of different industries, including Oil & Gas, Paper & Pulp, Food & Beverage, Power and Mining sectors, etc., with a wide range and the combination of physical, chemical and biological treatment technologies. He has in-depth understanding of the water issues related to Alberta’s Oil Sands industry, and accumulated solid experience in Produced Water Treatment for Heavy Oil In-Situ Thermal Operations (SAGD & CSS), as well as in treating Petroleum Refinery wastewaters for reuse, recycle and safe discharge. During his graduate study at the University of Alberta, and continued at Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC), he conducted the research and development of an integrated Tailings Pond Water (Produced Water) treatment process for Oil Sands industry. He is also proficient in designing Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) processes for both municipal and industrial applications with solid project experience and proven track records for conducting BioWin modeling and simulations.

He is a registered Professional Engineer in Canada with a Master's Degree of Environmental Engineering from the University of Alberta, Canada, and a member of America Water and Wastewater Association (AWWA).
