Jos P.M. Vink

About

Dr Ir Jos P.M. Vink is senior specialist soil and water quality. His field of expertise is environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, and risk assessments. He received his PhD at Wageningen University on behavior of contaminants in heterogeneous environments. He is an editorial board member of the open Environmental and Toxicology Journal, board member of the Working Group Chemicals of the European Commission, and board member of the Dutch Society of Soil Science.  He has co-organised several international conferences (Chemistry for a sustainable world, Athens, 2003; Chemistry and the environment, Bordeaux, 2004; Wetland Pollution Dynamics and Control, Gent, 2005; Fate of metals in the environment, COST1302, Vienna, 2014). He received a European patent for the development of a monitoring system to measure metal speciation over water-sediment interfaces. In 2013, he released a risk-assessment software tool for regulatory EU-implementation, based on biotic ligand models (BLM) for higher-tiered risk assessment of heavy metals. He has over 130 peer-reviewed publications in scientific national and international journals and book chapters. He has co-promoted several PhD candidates in the fields of environmental chemistry, toxicology, and modelling.
